I'm finally in the process of taking care of my timing chain issues on my 97 SOHC. I've gotten to the point of loosening the bolts to the valve covers. They don't seem to thread all the way out. Do they stay with the valve cover when I pull it off, or should I give them a good tug. I don't want to mess anything up.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Just undo them all and give the cover a tug. that way all the bolts stay attached to it so you won't drop any when you come to reinstall. If you want to remove the bolts you can by giving them a tug as they are just held in with a slightly oversized rubber bush with a metal bush in side it.
I took mine out off the vehicle to paint the cover with VHT

Thanks for the input. It's much appreciated.
