If I select feet - I get defrost & feet
If I select front - I get front & slight feet
If I select defrost - I get defrost & slight feet
If I select feet & front - I get feet & front
If I select feet & defrost - I get feet & defrost

Everything but the feet - feet and defrost, it's not a slight defrost, it's full blast, the slight feet I'm guessing is due to a leaky seal on the foot vent door.

When you are in a hard acceleration, such as climbing a steep hill or on-ramp, does airflow switch to defrost only? I am wondering if the vacuum check valve that is on the vacuum line near the firewall is going bad. Just replaced the one in my sons 2004 Explorer. He was experiencing the switch to defrost only on hard acceleration as well as getting airflow to the floor regardless of vent setting. Replacing this check valve solved the problem. Cost around $10.00 and takes a bout 2 minutes to replace.

I was betting it might be the switch itself, it doesn't change during accelerations, it literally just turn on the defrost too when you select feet. I might just go get one and replace it to try.

That is by Ford design.

In the vacuum selection table "Floor" actuates both "Floor" and "Defrost" air dampers

Even if it has an option for feet and defrost and then an option for just feet? Cause the just feet is also opening the defrost.

Defrost & Floor is for Defrosting the windshield. Therefore the A/C runs regardless of A/C selection or temp setting when on either of the Defrost options.

When I choose just feet it opens the defrost.

Yes, mine operates the exact same way

Odd. Guess its just regular operation then. Thanks! At least I know nothing's messed up.
