VERY bumpy ride

Car Type: 92 explorer, 4x4, 4 door

A few weeks ago I had a flat while in my parking lot, well I had a new fullsize tire but the 5th lugnut WOULDNT come off

( in the end i had to get it towed to Bell tire where it took then 20min with a torch to burn off the nut and the stud X.x)


So now i have 4 full size tires, and my front drivers side only has 4 studs, i was told this is fine as long as 4wd isnt turned on.

But lately my ride has felt ALOT bumpier, pot holes that didnt do much of anything before feel alot worse now.

I had to have the car sit on the rim the first day of the flat, and it sat with a bumper jack under the suspension part (the exact part the paper says to put it) for 3 days after.

Any thoughts? and is there any easy way to tell if my suspension is going ?

fix the studs and bolts that can be dangerous not only does it throw the wheel off balane but it increases the chances of messing the others up. get that fixed and have the wheels balanced and aligned and go from there

A 10+ yr. old X will have worn out shocks. Monore, Gabrial, Rancho are all popular and not priced too bad. Any will be much better then whats on there now.
It's possible that you are paying more attention to bumps now knowing that your lugs are in need of fixing. A $100 or so at PepBoys will set you right.

Maybe you were driving with low tire pressure on all four. Your tire shop guy just put back some air on them when he replaced the flat.

This happened to me a month ago. I have been driving a good part of fall and all of winter so far with about 20-22 psi on all four tires. When I found out I changed them back to 34 psi and I could tell right away that I have the correct tire pressure because I could feel those tiny bumps on the road again. That is just how it is.
