Very strange temperature issue. Tried searching and couldn't find anyone ever having a similar problem.

I thought the STANT one didn't have the little air bleed valve. I was going to try and find an OEM one. Are you sure that fan clutch test won't hurt the plastic fan blades? Awesome tip on the Hayden clutch being OEM by the way. I may just order one anyway. Didn't realize a quality one could be had so cheap. The fan does seem to be moving a lot of air though.

@Darksoldier

Thermostat design: It can have a bleed hole OR a "jiggler" - both achieve the same thing.

STANT is the name associated with quality thermostats.

Ask @donalds, he'll tell ya'

No, if you don't pay attention while performing the test you'll hurt your hand before you hurt the plastic fan blades :cool:
Believe it or not, I learned this trick in HS Auto Shop in the 80's - way before students became snowflakes...

To your eye the fan may seem to be moving a lot of air, and you'll feel hot air blowing on your face, BUT "the test" easily captures the bad ones.

You will be amazed the first time you catch a bad one with this test - the fan stops INSTANTLY the moment the rubber hose is inserted into the path of the fan blade - all while the engine is still idling, serpentine belt is still turning. It's then that you'll come to full nirvana, realizing that you can't tell a fan clutch's condition by just looking at it...

You came to the right place, now you know where to get a made in USA fan clutch for a reasonable price.

HTH & Good luck -
