Just bought a 95. 190k miles but beautiful- like mint. Two problems:
1. When accellerating a vibration is felt in steering and whole frame, seems like. Not bad at slow speeds but very bad at high speeds. At high speeds vibration very audible as kind of a low pitched roar. Vibration ONLY on giving gas. Foot off pedal and vibration goes away- coasts smooth as silk. Give it some gas and vibration back.
2. Power steering hard to start a turn then easier while turning then hard to return wheel. No noises or grinding.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.
Yhanks,
Joe

Vibration with accelleration/pwr st sluggish

Just bought a 95. Don't know what model but its loaded! Power everything, leather int, alloy wheels, etc. Automatic, 6 cyl. 190k but beautiful- like mint. Two problems:
1. Vibration with acceleration, seems like everything vibrating. Not bad at slow speeds but very bad at high speeds but ONLY while giving gas. Foot off pedal and vibration goes away- coasts smoothly. Give it gas and vibration back. At high speeds vibration becomes very audibe as low pitched roar (sort of).
2. Pwr steering hard to start turn then ok then hard to return wheel. Trying to check fluid but can't get hood open without additional person to pull handle while I pop hood. Will do that in short while but I think the fluid is OK.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Joe

does the vibration olnly happen while moving/. or while sitting still as well?(try iving a little gas while oyu are in park and see if u still get vibration)

OK just tried that. Starts right up and runs smoothly when not in gear. A little vibe above 2k rpm but not the same thing. Just normal. Engine sounds pretty good, actually.

Steering Rack. Did you check the PS fluid level? Get underneith and check for snapped bolts or dirty PS fluid leakage. Is this a 4WD? Could be linkage issues as well. Good place to start is the PS fluid, then look at the rack.

Update: PS fixed itself. (?) Works perfect now. Fluid was a little low but not much.
Yes, it is 4WD. Maybe it's me but vibration doesn't seem as bad now, though I don't think the problems are related. I'll check the rack and someone suggested the U-joints and maybe a bad motor mount.
Thanks
