I know it's not exactly legal but.....I want to make it so I don't need to have the parking brake on in order to watch video on my JVC head unit. I'm open to sugestions. I am about to drive from Fairbanks, AK to Watertown, NY. My wife and kids would like to be able to watch videos.

May I suggest you try the search feature? LOL
There are several options depending on the type of security lock your HU has, you can ground the parking brake cable, you can put a switch to it, you can unlock it using software, etc, so my guess is you're best bet is to do a search using your model number

Well I can't say for your model in particular, but I believe JVC units required grounding of the parking brake lead. I am not condoning nor suggesting you should, however...

some u also have to ground the parking brake and the mute wire, just throwing it out there

i havent used a jvc unit, but i've had an alpine unit, which needed some tricks in order to bypass, or a module.

then i had a kenwood kvt unit. you needed to wire it to a parking break. so i thought to myself, if it gets to the parking break, it's just going to get a signal that it's in park and work. so....i hooked it to a fuse in my fuse box instead so it would get that parked 'signal' all the time. and it worked.

then i had a pioneer avic n2 i think it was. and you had to take a lil silver sticker off the bottom of the head unit which i believe voided warranty, then it opened up a small hole that showed two spots that you needed to solder together

moral of the story...is to do research first :D lol. some units can be simple, while others are harder to do. google will most likely show you some useful info
