VOLANT air intakes

Anyone have experience with these? WWW.volantperformance.com I know most on this board have either KKM or K&N, but these look good too.

I don't see the point. With the explorer's intake, there's no need for "cold air". I bet they charge a ridiculous price for that thing.
 






$250-ish. Yep, very expensive.
 






The smooth pipe looks nice, but really I dont see how it could take in enough extra air to be worth it. Honestly I dont think any cold air kit reduces temps that much, its just in how much extra air you take in without all the restrictions
 






I wish they sold just the intake tube.
 






I installed the KKM, it has nice air flow over the sock box, but in CA I have to put my box back on to smog it - the box is cracked in the back and it still passes.

Question has anyone tried the Volant? How does it compare from the stock box to an open air filter?
