Want 2wd low with manual hubs locked in, any suggestions?

Alright, I've got Warn Manual Hubs on my '92 with push button 4x4 and 4x4 low. Is there a way I can keep my hubs locked in and yet have 2wd low? It's a pain to get out and lock in my hubs everytime I need them and I want to be able to use 2wd low on some trails. I don't want to keep my hubs locked in all the time because I drive around town and stuff. So what I'm wanting to do is be able to lock my hubs in when I start wheeling but want to have 2wd low. I know there's a mod for the 2nd gens with a switch (my brother did the thread) but I was wondering if there was any way to do it on a 1st gen like I explain. Does anyone have a suggestion or have done this themselves?

no, you will need to unlock hubs, actually only one if you have no locker.

there is no electric device or anything that actuates the front end.

Consider yourself lucky to have the hubs to unlock, it's not too much work!!!!!
I'm a big fan of 2low with hubs unlocked, and so is my tranny.

You would have to come up with a way to disconnect your rear end then if I am hearing you right. 2WD low would just be your 1st gear or so. You can leave your hubs locked, but only for a short distance. I was told on my old Toyota pickup to lock them and drive for 10 or so miles after oil change if I hadn't used them in awhile to make sure they were still greased up.

if you want 2wheel low and keep the hubs locked you need an atlas II. :)

my push button is not an electric device that engages 4x4? And it is too much work when you're in mud, it's not that I'm too lazy it's just that I figured there was a way to get around it.

So I guess everyone is say that there isn't a way to put a switch from my push button to the transfer case (I guess) that will keep it from enaging the front axle and just engage the rear?

You're transfer case cant work like that. when the 4wd is engaged the front and rear are locked together. .the 1354 isnt like the 4405 where it has a clutch engaging the front axle that you can disengage.

It sounds like you want what I want: a full time four wheel drive transfer case like was in my dad's '75 K5 Blazer. Always sends power to both axles, but has a lockable center differential. On good traction surfaces you put the t-case in H or L allowing the t-case differential to allow the driveshafts to spin at different speeds. But, when you need the traction, you lock the center differential. I've never heard of anyone putting a full time t-case in an explorer, though, so I don't have any idea how hard it would be to put in place of a 1354.
