i found a motor that a guy in florida is selling me and it's a 5.0 ho with AOD, and everything else needed (computer, oil pan, etc.) It came off of his 91 thunderbird. It has about 60,000 miles.

Iwant to put it on my 92 4x4 explorer.
Is the transmission going to work? I also now i need a new a transfer case, take off the ac or find one that will fit, new fan, new radiator, new driveshaft. Is their anything else i need. (im not sure but do i need to change the 4x4 trans too?) Maybe if you gusy could make a list of all the things that are needed that would extremely wonderful and helpful to everyone else.

I know there are a lot of threads on this but if you guys could be cool about helping me out here i would love it. Thanks guys.

You pretty much got what you need. You may not have to change anything for your A/C. 302's are pretty small, and everything should fit. You want to make sure to get all of the accessories. Take it all, altenator, power steering pump, and the A/C pump. You will probally have to take the smog pump to, being it is on the A/C bracket. With all of that, it will drop right in. As for the AOD, they do make a adapter to go from a AOD to your transfercase, and it says it will be the same size as the current one, so no driveline changes. You can also take a C-5 out of a 85 or so Bronco. They came with the same transfercase as us. You can buy a rebuilt C-5 for cheaper than a adapter, but you do not get overdrive. If you go with the C-5, make sure to get the torque converter for it. I put the C-5 in mine, and used all of my stock linkage. I put in a 302 first, and then went with a 351W.

Oh yeah, you need to buy a remote oil filter kit. You can buy the one from james Duff for a hundred bucks, or go to Schucks or whoever and buy theirs for forty bucks. You will have to go to a hardware store and pick up 2 90 degree elbows to put on the adapter to the block. The steering box is right there.

One thing for you to think about when this is done though. I have push button 4 wheel drive. I can go to 4 high, but not 4 low. One of these days I will figure out how to lie to the computer so that it will engage to 4 low for me, but I have not had that time yet.

Have fun.............
