Wanted: 1997 Ford Explorer XLT Fuel Pump

I have been given a 1997 Ford Explorer from a friend. It will not start because the fuel pump is bad. I'm looking for the least expensive way to get the part. I've got a friend willing to put it in for $100.

I am recovering from Cancer and am absolutely broke from debt piling and not working. This car is key for me to move forward because I have been riding my bike for a couple years. I'm ready to go to work and need a car to get back and forth.

SOHC 4.0L
4 Dr
4WD

I've researched Delphi, Bosch, Airtex, Precision, and Spectra. My mechanic suggests Delphi or Bosch.

I haven't found the part number for the Bosch, but did find what I think would fit from Delphi.

My question is, is this the right part #, and is this what I need?

The last fuel pump I did was in my excursion and I bought it from rock auto. Seems to be working great.

Bill I highly recommend the BOSCH from amazon, it comes with the sock and ships free. About sixty bucks, I will get you the number if you need it. Why I put off my pump replacement for so long was I could not determine which terminals I would find when I pulled the old one. Would they be wide, or narrow? No one seemed to have an answer, so finally I found the great deal on the BOSCH and I have had no problems, no more cryptic no-starts situations, I am so glad I finally did the job.

Bosch 69128 is what I used, of course I soldered & shrink-wrapped the original connector back onto the new pump IIRC. Best wishes.

In my experience brand doesnt seem to matter on the fuel pump. Whats important is the flow and pressure specs. Comes with everything including the wiring harnesses and filter sock.

I have at least 1 perfectly good pump I pulled out of my explorers. If your not in a huge rush, I could send you one. Im back home on Sunday night, so I'd be able to confirm I have it and send it to you if you like.

The one had about 1 year use on it before I replaced it with a high volume pump to support my supercharger.

Let me know. I'm betting shipping time will be just over a week.

Great to hear your getting back to work, I sure hope insurance was there for you and your thru chemo and getting back to work because your getting better.
