Lately my 96 explorer xlt 4.0 has decided it doesn't want to start, I've done some reading on the boards here and have seen some similar issues but not one quite like mine. One second my truck will be running fine no issue at all. I'll turn off the truck and less then ten minutes later it won't start. Checked all the fuses and relays but they're all fine. Cel are all o2 sensor codes and another about a gas pedal sensor or something like that not too sure what that one is. When you turn the key the pump does not prime or make any noise at all. We did get it to prime buy banging on the tank with the key turned. My stepdad thinks it could be a Sending unit on the pump. Could this be the pump itself? Once it primes it starts right up and runs fine. Or is it something else altogether ?

Throttle position sensor.

Yes, it sounds like the fuel pump has gone intermittent. If the relay socket and relay are not to blame, then I would change the pump.

That would explain why banging on it makes it start up again? It only seems to effect it when I start it not when driving
