hey guys, i got a 2000 ford explorer for my 17th bday back in july...it has the BEST sound system you could buy from ford, i believe the MACH? Well anyway i'm wanting to upgrade my front speakers and possibly the sub 2. Can someone tell me what speakers/sub (brand, size, wattage, etc) it already has, and what would be a good set of front speakers to buy for no more than, lets say $100/pair or so, unless they are exceptionally good? Thank you all for your time

Get a new head unit while you're at it. I don't know if it affected 2000 year explorers with the mach system but a lot of people with the mach system have had their display go dead after a while. Of course there are fixes but they can be expensive.

i don't know the specs of your speakers/sub(the sub is 8" i beleive) but anyways- you want to upgrade your front speakers-do you want speakers or components-that makes a difference in selection-if going for speakers go with brands like Alpine, Pioneer is alright, Cerwin Vega, Infinity, JL audio, Kicker etc.-if going for components-again; Alpine, MB quart, Infinity, Kicker, JBL, Rockford Fosgate, etc. I would recommend components for the front. Hope this helps you out!

what is the diff between reg speakers and components? I know my sub is the 8" one, and i'm thinking for right now i'm just gonna upgrade the front speakers. so what not 2 expensive speakers or components...once i fidn out the difference between the two...would u recommend?

i would recommend components for the front. The diff between components and reg. speakers is that speakers come with a built in tweeter, and components come with tweeter seperate so you can mount it where you please-you get better sound this way, essentially. Components will run you a little more than speakers because they are higher quality-pricing just depends on where you go-go haggle a local shop to see how much you can get a good set of components installed* for, if those prices are too high for you search the internet-there's always deals on the internet!
-good luck

wait a lil bit... element design and resonant engineering are coming out with some loud ass 8's.
