I hope this will prevent a lot of cussing and headaches for you guys. A short while back I changed my transmission filter and replaced it with a Purolator filter kit from Pep Boys. Bad move..... After it was all put back together whenever I would put the gas pedal past about 1/4 it would slip out of gear. I decided to call my transmission shop and ask about this and they told me that the o-rings that come in that kit are the wrong size so the trans is sucking air past the filter. Well time to drop the pan again. I put the original o-rings on the new filter and put everything back together again. I can now accelerate without the trans slipping, but the problems aren't over yet. Now whenever it gets cold the trans won't go into gear until it warms up. Back to the trans shop.... They told me that even with the bigger o-rings the filter is not built right so it does not fit as tight as it should. When it gets cold the fluid is a little thicker and it sucks air past the filter instead of sucking the fluid. All said and done I need to go get a new filter and drop the pan AGAIN. I might as well buy the whole damn refinery for what I've spent on ATF. By the way, the gasket that comes in that kit is junk too, it lasted about a day before it was leaking. It had developed a small hole. I replaced it with a steel shim cork gasket. Much better.
