first of all i wasnt sure where to put this, sorry if this is the wrong place.

anyway, im lifting my 99 5.0 and i was wondering if anybody knew where a good place to order warrior 153s is?

also i saw a description for them on the internet and it said that you could lift it anywhere from half an inch to 2 inches, but it looks like there are only 2 holes for the bolt on each end, so how could it be adjustable?

and one more question, i have the sport package on my truck (love it!) and my friend is convinced that because of the sport package my truck already has a small lift. he claims when his was stock (he has a 98), it wasnt nearly that high. if thats true will it effect how the shackles work?

any other info on the shackles would be helpfull too. thanks

the only lift you can get with the warrior shackles is 1-1/4". they have shackles for other cars that are only 1/2". but i think they are for jeeps. as far as the sport package goes im not sure. i dont think its any higher, but i could be wrong. and copperhead makes a shackle for 2" lift. but you have to drill ou tthe holes cause they are too small.

awsome! maybe ill go with the copperheads. any idea what the part number is and how much they cost?

nvm, found out the price and everything. im not sure which ones to go with... anybody have opinions on the copperheads?

Different Tires?

Hi

We own 2 explorers, both are 1997. One is a 5.0 V8 XLT AWD the other is a 2 Door Sport 4x4 with the OHV 4.0 the front suspensions are both 100% stock, I put 4 leaf rear springs under the back of the sport because it was sagging so bad, but that leveled it right out, so they now have identical rear springs (both have stock shackles).

They both sit at dramatically different ride heights. Although the suspensions are now identical (or at least both 100% stock parts) the V8 4 door is at least an inch and a half if not two inches lower when they are parked side by side or end to end. The only differences in the two trucks that can explain the different ride heights are 1) tire size 2) engine weight. Ford put a whole bunch of different tire sizes on these things based upon options package and whatnot. My 2 door has 265/75/16's on it and the 4 door has 235/75-15's. If you do the math that equates to a 31.6 inches diameter for the 2 door's tires and 28.9 inches overall diameter for my 4 door tire's diameter. Thats a difference of 1.8 inches right there. Factor in a few more lbs for the V8 over the V6, and a few more lbs for the beefy automatic trans instead of the manual in the 2 door and it's not hard to imagine a difference in ride heights of 2".

As far as I know (or the Haynes Manual lists) the only suspension changes from 95 - 01 were differences in the springs' weight ratings (search spring codes and you'll see what I mean) and maybe minor tweaks to the anti-swaybars (which do not in any way affect ride height). Stock the front ends and the shackles, spring perches, U-bolts, everything else was the same. The rear axle is a "spring under" setup, so there's no chance that there are different blocks or spacers in there either.

I say get the longer shackles, then search to see who has crammed the largest tires onto one of these things without rubbing. The only way to gain altitude is bigger tires.

well that was really interesting elvis but i dont see what it has to do with my questions, i have the sport package on the 4 door not a 2 door sport. and the reason im getting those tires is because my friends selling me 4 american racing rims with 5 31s and a rim for the spare for 150 and hes going to mount them for me too

31's will fit

ahh

Allow me to summarize.

31's will fit with or without the shackles (so will 32's but they'll have to be narrow metric sized tires like I have on one of my explorers)

There is no such thing as a "factory" lift for these trucks regardless of the options package, trim level, number of doors etc...

IF after installing the new tires, you want more fender well clearance then go get the shackles for the rear, crank in the torsion bars, and have it re-aligned.

Let me know how it goes. I'm planning on stuffing some 31x10.50x15's under our V8 next time it needs tires

idk man, it deff. looks higher than one without the sport package, but i could be wrong. and i know they would fit without the lift but i want the extra clearance and just the overall look of the lift too.
