Was there ever a diesel ex made?

I e-mailed a guy that has bought 6 first gen explorers in the last two months and converted one over to diesle and is going to start selling them soon:D I told him about the site and he is going to come over and visit soon

Not in the US. I dunno about over seas.
 






I would love to have a deisel in my X... oh man that would be the greatist engine swap ever!

But what kind of motor would fit in the engine bay, and be big enough? I don't know of many small 6 or 8 cyl deisels, most of the imports have 4s and those are too weak :(

Maybe a converted Marine deisel? I knew a dude who installed a Yanmar in an old RPS van.... that thing was insane!

I know this thread is old , but did he really do this ?
And what engine trans confiquration did he use .
 






i think diesels were available in some exes overseas....

it isnt uncommon for people overseas to swap engines in either.. its a lot more prevalent then here even....
