My X had been overheating a bit and it sounded like my t-stat might've been malfunctioning. So I replaced my t-stat tonight, flushed the coolant, and burped the system. Unfortunately, after about 30 minutes of idling my X, white steam/smoke started coming out of the lower rad hose and the temp gauge was all the way to the right once again.

Any ideas on what the problem might be?

Have you checked your radiator cap? If the cap cant hold enough pressure, youll overheat quick. I know theres a tool to check the cap with but I've never seen it.

You might be able to get it done at an autoparts store, it would be worth checking out.

This the cap that goes on the radiator coolant reservoir?

No, the cap that goes on the top of the radiator and transfers coolant from the overflow to the radiator and back. You should always replace your radiator cap with your thermostat and/or hoses.

Autozone has the pressure cap checker in their loan-a-tool program.
