My mechanic told me there is a small crack in a hose or tube allowing water to get out. The truck has not been overheating yet. I noticed the resouvoir is slowely getting empty, and on the ground under the car I see water spots when coming home. What should do to stop this, replace the water pump are we talkin $$$ or try to seal it myself? if I dont fix it will it get worse?

If there's a small crack in the hose, replace the hose please, not the water pump itself. There will be two big black hoses, one on top connecting the engine to the radiator, and one on the bottom doing the same thing. From what you said, one of them is probably dryrotted and leaking. Look for white residue and/or coolant leaking from one of them. If they are leaking, it's super easy to replace, just search a how-to on radiator hoses.
