Hey Guys,

One of my work Xs is on its way back to my shop with a starting problem. It started, but was REAL weak, not even idling. The driver cut it off, and then it wouldn't start at all. After about 10 minutes of trying, he finally got it started and it is on its way here.

Things to look at: fuel pump relay, cps, fuel filter. What else?

Can I test the cps? How?

I figure step one is listening for the fuel pump. But if I have the hum, what should be my next step?

How should I look into this problem step by step? I need to kinda get this done quickly. Having a truck down costs me money!!:D

edit: oh, it is a '94

WOW!! You guys came through on this one!!

J/K! I know that not all the right people see the threads you want them to see, when you want them to see them.

The rig made it back to the shop, but I couldn't replicate the non-start condition. I think it is the pump relay going bad. So I just swapped that relay with the "A/C WOT" relay and it started the rest of the day fine. We will see how it goes for the next few days.

That's what happened to the courier car at my work!! It would have a weak start, then die, then start up just fine. IT got to the point where it actually started to choke during idle, it doesn't sound like yours has gotten to that point yet. As it turned out, it was the fuel relay. Sounds like you got it already though. ;)
