Weight of a '94 X vs. a '02-03 X

I've seen in reports that the 3rd gen X weighs in at about 4200-4300 lbs. I remember reading somewhere long ago that the '94 X weighs about 4200. Is this correct? It seems odd to me that a newer version weighs the same as its nine-year-old predecessor, given the trend of newer cars and trucks that are also heavier.

Can anyone clarify this?

The 3rd gen Ex is a couple hundred pounds heavier, more like around 4700-4800lbs, the 2nd gen is around 4300-4400lbs, and the 1st gen is lighter than all them.

The new Aviator is only around 5000lbs with all it's extras and weight and weighs a little more than a regualr Explorer or Mouty so...
