Weird noise, REALLY annoying

when im driving or stopped(600-6000 revs) there is a ticking noise that is coming from the front, im guessing that its from the engine because it ticks when im at a red light its not too loud but i can hear it driving, its about 2 ticks per second and really annoying me, my mom wants to take it to the shop but im curious if anybody has had this problem and knows what it is, its a 93 4x4 stock

Sounds like a vacuum leak. This happened to me a couple months ago. A vacuum hose had rotted away. They replaced it and it's good as new.
