Hi,

Well this might be a easy fix, or not??

When I turn off the truck and take the key out, . open door the door chimes like I have my keys/lights on? Which I dont, And also My radio still has power. But nothing else does? I can turn the radio off. but the clock still reads so there is still power there?

Does anyboy have any idea on this at all? Now i'm just pulling the fuse for it at night(dont know if the battery will run down with the radio clock on or not)....

HELP!!!!!!

It sounds like a problem I have seen on many Saturn's ( I am sorry ) On those you take the key out but the car
" doesn't know " the key is out so it rings the " key is in the ingnition " chime. So a little bit of Zep Teflon spray or some other scillicon spray around the lock cylender and it's all good. This may or may not be your problem but it is some thing to look into.

When you say nothing else works, did you try the power windows, if you have them. It is possible your ignition switch is worn and you are actually in the ACC mode and not the OFF.

I checked this morning and the windows work without the key in as well.
But unlike when you have the key in the ACC mode none of the dash lights(battery, engine, etc) are on.

Mine does the same thing...

The cylinder lock is worn and I can take my key out in any position now. Even when the truck is running. To make sure it is in the OFF position, when you take the keys out, just wiggle the lock until you hear it lock in place. Kinda neat, though...I can lock my doors at the 7-11 and leave the truck running

All my lights go off and my radio comes back on and says "hello", but none of the other lights that usually come on when they key is in the on position are still lit. Weird...

well Did some more searching and though the ignition key cylinder was bad. went and bought a new one from Autozone for $13. Installed it and guess what???

Same freaking thing. Key out of ingition, door open door chimes, power to radio, windows etc.

Any clue on what it is now? Is there some sensor that might be bad????

I didn't mean that the key cylinder was worn out I was meaning the internal detents of the ignition switch itself. The guts that are in the column. That is likely where your problem is.

Just an idea, it could be your ignition switch its self. It might not be getting the correct signial. Try taking it off and see if that still happens or not...

I know on my 98 I can take the keys out and the power windows will work until I open my door. Its designed that way.

same here on the 95. that freaked me out the first time it happened. there I am sitting with the keys in hand, radio still going, and i can roll up the windows. Nice feature though, if you know about it.

Mine did that after I installed a new Red Top Optima. It would just work as if in ACC for like 15 minutes. Then all would shut off. It stopped after about a week.

Ch#%y's have the radio play until you open the door or if you dont open a door it goes off in 30 min.

The accessory delay feature only applies to windows only. It does not apply to radios. But I don't know. Good luck finding the problem.

FIXED

Well,

After looking and checking everything on the ingition switch and etc. I decided to pull out the fuse panel just to see if i could see anything. And I found that one wire had rubbed on somthing enough to expose the wire. Well that exposed wire was resting beside the metal frame. and well that was causing the power windows, lights and radio to stay on all the time. When I taped it up. the radio was not working...The fuse for the radio was blown....fixed that fuse. no my truck is perfect as new..... So if ya get a weird problem like thise check those wires in the fuse panel. maybe on is exposed giving power to whater is grounded tot hat frame...
