Anyone know what this is? I found it near my EEC IV Self Test plugs.. not connected to anything. :(

Ooh.....thats a ground strap. Get that thing attached to the car, and fire it up.

What exactly am I attaching it to? Or better yet where?

Just both ends touching the car??

Would that do anything?

It was just floating around :C

I saw on some pictures looking around on the internet that one clip goes inside the bay and the other clips to the hood. I'll do some more looking. "Ground strap" was exactly the term I would have never guessed. Thanks for that

*edit* could explain my power windows being slower recently

Its hard to say, there are several ground straps on the engine and its control modules. Every model car is different. Best thing is to try to find a picture of a Ex, same model as yours, and see if you can figure it out.

Maybe somebody on the forum can walk out and snap some photos for you if they own the same model/year.

There are two ground straps. One goes from the engine to the frame and the other from the frame to the body.

This one was in the passenger side far corner near the EEC tester so Im gonna assume it was the frame to the body. This may sound dumb, but I'm not really sure what these bad boys are for, so how accurate do I have to be in putting it back on the frame to the body?

One end has a clip, but the other does not?

**edit**

guess I can go with Bobmbx's post from 2014.. "The only requirement is a ground path. It doesn't have to be factory-spec."

The clip is just pressed onto the frame.

It's not important where exactly the ground is located.

The body is on rubber pads, (electrically isolated) so a ground strap is needed.

Have a look around. Someone may have replaced it and just dropped the broke one where you found it.

You would probably be having some electrical issues if there is no ground strap from the body to the frame.

Hmmm. Well, I found the clip of the other one, so at least I know where one side goes... Where the heck is a good place for the OTHER side though??

Wouldn't this just be connecting something to itself? Lol.

I'm pretty sure mine goes from the fender to the hood. There's another ground strap for the engine below the wiper motor, on the firewall.

None of these should matter anyway. The computer and battery both ground out to the passenger side fender and most sensors have their own wires back to the computer.

Well yes Natenkiki, while I highly doubt I've struck oil with this find, I just wanted to get it out of the way. I noticed my power windows acting much slower recently and having less power. I just wanted to find the place for this to go. You think it connects to the hood? I couldn't find a spot on there where a clip could fit and specifically reach.

Is the spot I put it all for naught? I don't know the difference between the frame and the body.

Frame

The body is virtually everything else that isn't the powertrain or drivetrain.

How the heck is this little tiny ground strap supposed to reach all the way down there xP

I thought it should be a body to frame connection?

Fender to hood would be body to body?

mine came off too. i just swapped it out for a thin cable and bolted it to the hood and to the top part of the fender. probably for the wipers or radio static or something ridiculous

That looks like the one I have going from hood to fender. Mine had gotten ripped of once I put a new eye connector on it to fender.

Thanks homie! That's where I put mine as well. I believe it increased the speed of my power windows again. They seemed to be slowed down but I could be trippin'.

I love your hood lifts!
