I have a msrp over 52K beer can right now...
My APIM is shot and has been for weeks
Fort Mill Ford odered the part...
made appointment showed up and they got tied with Ford Engineers on a unfixabe Fusion
So I bring it back yesterday for repairs. i was told it would be 2 hours or so and I decided to wait for the car....
3 hours later I get word my APIM is out and their computer is down and my car is DOA until they get it fixed
they spent another 1 hour looking for a rental
Waiting to hear back but now the car is FUBAR and hopefully they can get it together sometime soon...
The joys of ownership
People wonder we complain and for the record Ford has provided the worst ownershp experience of any vehicle I have bought in years and I usually buy 3-5 cars every other year so I have a lot to measure it against...

That stinks! It sounds like you should look for a different service dept if there are any others around.

I feel your pain, only it was with a $50k Grand Cherokee and then a $62k Suburban. Chrysler bought the Jeep back but we had to just dump the Suburban in on trade for our new Ex Sport. Unfortunately, "we ain't buyin no Lexus". Or that's what the ford sales manager said... Uh oh.

No excuse for a dealer to treat a customer that way. While you are there, why not show them all the bad press they are getting on this Forum?

No joke! Do I hear free oil change?! And then some...

I had the APIM replaced 2X in my 2011.

It sure would be interesting to see how many of these APIM's have been replaced since My Ford Touch was released.

With the issues in the 2011 MFT vehicles why continue to build vehicles with the same APIM.

Is it just Explorers APIM's that are being replaced or all others as well?

Hi sciond,

I want to get your regional customer service manager involved so they can assist. Send me a PM with your VIN, mileage, daytime phone number, and full name. I'll get your info into the right hands.

Owning a Ford product has become a real wakeup call for me. I agree with your assesment wholeheartedly. A wakeup call as well as a kick in the pants as far as I'm concerned. Ford isn't moving forward ...... Their going backwards!!!!! :thumbdwn:

I'm not even a ford fanboy but I can say I own a trucking company with a fleet of about 50 vehicles and about 30 of them get replaced every two to three years. Of the big 3, fords hold up the best by far. Except the Tahoe has out lasted the expedition.

I would not be saying "Ford" as a whole is going backwards or kicking you in the pants rmp as it seems to be this is a perception issue. Its really your local dealer thats the problem and should be reported to Ford Corp. How is "Ford" suppose to know if they have a bad dealership unless they hear about it from their customers. A silent customer is a happy customer in their minds.

So I put the blame in the hands of the complainers, why complain and stain a name for no reason. I would also send your information rmp like Crystal, the forums personal Ford customer service rep so she can try and rectify it for you.

Don't get me wrong, I have been wronged by dealers before but if they aren't willing to listen its time to escalate to someone who will. If not, then why complain. An honestly, I have seen a dramatic improvement in our dealer ships in our area. Hopefully you guys will too.

Hi rmp301,

Are you having a physical concern with your vehicle? If so, I want to see how I can assist. Reach out to me via PM with your info (VIN, dealer, mileage, daytime phone number, full name) so I can research your case.

I'm glad to hear that Fords have been treating you well, converted_21!

Oh and today I got a lovely error code saying see your dealer because my navigation is malfunctioning....oh well and so i roll on...

If you're not happy with it and you're getting lots of problems, think about lemon law. I am concerned, many of my friends don't want to buy a Ford because the MyFordTouch is completely unreliable. In the newer models it seems okay but it's the hardware that's the problem is what it seems to be. I had my APIM replaced twice and Ford needs to redesign that part or something because we all know it's faulty. They know it's faulty, that's why the warranty got extended from 3 to 5 years for the APIM. Don't worry man. You have about 5 years until you have to worry about paying for a MFT problem.

good points..great vehicle crappy APIM

Ford no longer uses their old slogan "At Ford Quality is Job One" It shows !!! Doubfull I'll ever buy another..........

Hmmm, I have bought three fords in the last 13 months.... all have been perfect (thus far !) They've hit a home run with the 6.7 diesel and also with the ecoboost !

My Audi had 3 outstanding items they never fixed in 3 years of trying.... so I guess like all generalities, we are wrong in some cases and right in others :)

The ecoboost is da bomb :) but I've had 12 turbos on 3 6.7 diesels in the past year.

Whoa, That's creepy ......... I thought I wrote that post! My experience with Ford has been the same. Write and complain, and they ignore your letters too! :thumbdwn:

more odd behavior from the APIM nav freezing and phone freezing. The agravating part is the nav is real important to me based on the amount of driving I do... back to the dealer ASAP.
I now photo document everything
