Bigger tires, more rolling weight, need MUCH better brakes. Anyone used something other than power slots?

Probably a ripoff, but I'm looking for something dimpled (not fully cross drilled) like these:

iRotors.com

Searched, but all I find it OEM and powerslots from EE.

Thx

I highly doubt you'll find anything else. What size tires are you running? I have 33's and my brakes are fine.

Check the weight of your wheel/tire combo. Stock is in the high 50lbs. range. My 18's(30.6") weigh 71.5-72 pounds each. I have EBC rotors and pads on this 98 Mountaineer. I'll be adding Cobra rotors and four piston calipers soon.

A cheaper upgrade is to change the knuckles to the SportTrac knuckles. You then can use the 12" SportTrac rotors. Be sure to find the correct version(2WD/4WD), and get the dust shield. The knuckle must come from a 2001 or newer SportTrac or Sport.

My EBC rotors are spot faced, and they still make them. They've gone up slightly.

I just finished installing the SportTrac brakes on my 99 Limited, but it won't be driveable for a while yet. I chose drilled and slotted rotors for it. Good luck,
Don

Thanks everyone! Yeah dman - pics will be up hopefully today....

My tires are TrXus MT's with ProComp Xtreme Wheels. VERY heavy. Hence the upgrade. Regarding the rotors, I bought the EBC Sport rotors - dimpled (not through drilled like the irotors.com ones) and slotted and some EBC 4x4 Extreme pads...Weren't in stock so I'll have to wait until next weekend to put them on.

PepBoys pricematched the rotors from a web store, but not the pads - they carry the rotors normally but the xtreme pads are special order...
