I was wondering what brand of throttle bodies works best for you guys or what puts the most 'spin' on the air? And what size would I need for a 96' XLT v6?

Ok I tried searching for this question also but couldn't find it:

If I'm going from BBK Chrome Plated 1 5/8inch Header And Y-Pipe System to a Flowmaster American thunder II Cat-Back Exhuast System
what size/type catalytic converter do I need?

(Sorry I am REALLY new to this)

You can save yourself alot of hassle and money by not buying the headers. They won't make any difference other than make the truck louder.

ok well I'm a newbie, but If you get headers with a larger diameter tubing won't that decrease the pressure and allow a higher volume amount of exhuast to flow faster and easier? which entails with more performance/ horsepower?

The OHV 4.0L is not a high performance engine. It doesn't need very much airflow. Simply upgrading the muffler and tubing with a catback is all you need.

Upgrading the exhaust system will also not make any difference other than make your truck sound different. Don't anticipate noticible gains with minor modifications. Many here will disagree with me, but that is my opinion.

I agree that intake and catback exhaust are a good idea, while headers and cats are not (as long as your stock manifolds and cats are working). Freeing up the exhaust too much will result in a loss of low end torque due to the gases slowing down too much in the exhaust. I recommend the KKM intake system www.kustomz.com and a custom Magnaflow catback exhaust. I have written some info on my recommendations that is at the top of the Need for Speed forum.

The BBK 66mm TB is a good unit, but not needed until intake and exhaust are done. A custom computer chip would also help, there is a group buy in the works with Apten.

You will definately get a bang from a custom cat back and intake and a custom chip will rock your world.

Good luck.....

don't even worry about the throttle body changing...take that 200 bucks and invest in a chip, that is where a good amount of your power will come from

If you do end up getting headers, I recommend getting JBA ceramic coated headers. They are more expensive than the BBKs, but IMO fit better and the coating will help performance and engine cooling. However, I do not recommend headers with only a few other bolt-ons on the motor.
