i tried to wire an amp by using the factory amps inputs and power wires from the harnesses. I ran seperate power directy to the battery, but i am trying to take the input signal and remote lead directly off of the factory amp. for input i used a line input converter because my amp uses RCA's. On my 96 explorer 4 door it has the amp and sub in the cargo area, but then theres a seperate what looks to be another amp or some sort of "brain" just in front of the facory amp/sub(passenger cargo area side panel must be removed in order to see it) - this has a lot of harnesses pluging into it with many wires, it also has the factory amps input wires coming out of it. This means that from the factory head unit the wires go to this "brain" and then to the factory amp--actually the power wires for the factory amp comes from this "brain" also(i think). My question is which wire is for the remote turn on because the factory amp seems to have none going to it since i tested all for one. and sould i take the input signal after or before this "brain"-this means from the head unit or from the factory amp harness.

sorry for the length but i want u to understand every detail since i'm sort of lost at this stage.

**any help at all i'd be greatly thankful for.
-Thanx a lot-

Remote turn-on leads are almost always blue and will be quite a bit thinner than the other wires. You can usually find the wire near the power and ground connections on amps. This is how my 92 was with the JBL system.

Now, as for the "brain," part of your question, does your amp/sub assembly look like, from left to right: silver amp, amp with JBL logo, sub? The JBL system has two amps, one for the door speakers, and one for the sub. Sounds like Ford makes all the connections to the first amp (the silver one) and then passes on a low frequency signal to the sub amp (the one with the JBL logo). I think the "brains" of the system are in the head unit, and the silver thing is the door speaker amp (again, this is how my 92 is, yours could be different).
So what you're looking for is the remote turn-on lead that goes from the head unit to the first amp (the silver one). The reason the other amp does not have a remote turn-on lead going to it is because it gets it's turn on signal from the silver amp. Whew, I hope that all made sense.

peace

Yeah it will most always be blue or purple. But an easy way to find it is that it will probably be the smallest wire that comes with your amp kit.
