what did i break in my truck now?

I have a 97 sport and it started making a ratcheting noise in 4wd. I thought it was the TOD clutch slipping so i installed a switch to give me 2wd and it went away. well i got stuck tonight in the snow and i said hell with it and put it in 4wd and gave it some gas. make that real nice noise and didnt go any where. So i put it back in 2wd and guess what its still doing it. Ive already got another transfer case so im not to worried. Im wondering what could be making that noise while in 2wd. Im guessing i might have stretched the chain in the t-case. I cannot figure out why my t-case would be making that noise in 2wd.

Bad bearing in the T-case maybe?

Ah whatever. I pulled out the t-case tonight and ill be putting the new one in after work tomorrow.
