svo - not sure i think it is special vehcile operations
svt-special vehicle team
sho-super high output

Jim is correct about SVO. Here is a little more about it...

In the fall of 1980, Ford created Special Vehicle Operations to develop and oversee Ford's Motorsport program, representing a significant change in product philosophy at Ford Motor Company. SVO was established to enhance the image of Ford products through motorsports, and to apply race-derived technology and knowledge to exciting new production vehicles. SVO demonstrates clearly what then Ford president Donald E. Peterson meant when he said that Ford wants to be known for building "driver's cars,'' and that Ford will be known as the company moving the American automobile industry in a new direction.

anything special about XLT, GT, LX or GL? Probably just some letters that sound good together, right?

gt = gran touring

lx = short for 'luxury'

i dont know the others.

XLT, and XL dont mean anything, they are just their to distinguish between different styling packages.

GL is also a package, i believe its the low end, much like the EX (i think that stands for Economy)

S.H.O, thats where its all at.

heh, thats funny :D

Thats funny. I used to have a probe LX. it wasnt very luxurious. since it had a V6 it was more of a rice eater than anything else. my friend used to have a probe GL and that was just sad.

you got that right! i have a couple friends that are hardcore into the probe scene (its the equivalent of our explorer scene, but its more dominant than our scene), and, no offense to any probe owners, but the 1st gen pgl's are pretty pathetic.

hows this for a cool probe with a custom turbo setup (not to mention a decent shot of some blonde girl's cleavage :D )...

Dead Link Removed

(i got lots more pics of awesome probes, if youre interested ;) )

Are you sure? I don't know about Ford, but with Chevy the Tahoe XL is the extra long Tahoe. So there might be a meaning. I'm actually kind of interested in knowing what exactly the letters consist of in my Explorer XLT

nice ;)

i think SS means super sport.
does SE mean sport edition? i had a grand am SE and a fiero SE and i never knew what the initials meant. i remeber when my grand am was dirty and my friend wrote an X in the dirt on the door with his finger right after the SE. i took me a week to notice it.

Probe ? Isnt that the car of choice for most proctologists?

I think X=extra L=long T=turning radius and be careful you dont flip it over.
