I have a 94 ford explorer and i'm running 32 inch tires. I was wondering what size gears i should get? I want to have torque but i also want to be able to drive at high speeds. Thanks

4.56 or 4.10. How high of a speed? If it's continous driving over 75 or so then you need 4.10.

i do drive over 75 a lot and i still want to. But i want more torque. Will 4:10 give me the torque that i need. I tow a trailer a lot and want enough pickup speed but also want high speeds.

That's your decision. Can't have the best of everything. I would go with 4.56 personally because I would want to keep the engine in it's powerband.

just curious what gears you have now?

I just have a stock axle. I think its 3:73. But ive heard that if you don't put on gears with bigger tires it can cause damage to your transmission.

ok you can check your door where it says axle tell us what it says there and someone can tell you what you havenow. if you do have 3:73's i dont think it will hurt anything with 32's but did you notice much difference with the tires?

Ok. It says Axle:D4. It doesn't say anything else. Yes, I noticed a huge decrease in power when i put on the bigger tires. But I don't know what that D4 means. But i think i have 3:73.

sorry. It says Axle:D4

it means you have a 3:73 limited slip differential

yeah thats a limited slip 3:73 i have that also and im going with 32's so its a big loss in power? that sucks i was hoping to get away with it guess ill have to go to 4:10's or more what kinda lift do you have and how much

I have skyjackers 4" drop down brackets. But i'm thinking about switching to a full performance system. Like camburg bent I beams with coil overs or mcneils explorer lift.
