I am thinking of buying infinity component set. i dont want the kick pannels, so I am mounting the tweeters on the dash. What is the largest woofer cone tha will fit. 5 1/4? 6 1/2? Any help would be great, thanks,
Jason

I know the 5.25" will fit and I am pretty sure the 6.5" will fit too. They both would require a plate that would fit in the 6x8 door panel. I just ordered an Infinity component set from Crutchfield a few days ago and I am going to mount the woofer in the door as well. Crutchfield has an 5.25" Infinity component set on sale for $99.95 (regularly $179.95) this includes crossovers.

Are those the Kappas? Thats what I was looking for. Is anybody else sure they 6 1/2s will fit? Thanks mrsteve.

I was able to fit the MB Quart 8" drivers in my front doors. Although it took some cutting, they fit great. The 6 1/2 should fit with no problem at all.

I have 6.5" Focal mids in my front doors. They fit great. I would definitely recommend going with the 6.5s over the 5.25s. You get that solid impact up front. David, you fit 8" Quarts in there?? In the stock location? Does the window clear the magnet assembly? How do they sound?

peace

Mike

There are in the stock locations. I had to do some trimming of the metal, but it worked. The magnets are close, but do not touch at all. I had to make some custom spacer rings for them. They sound great up there.

im pretty sure that mrsteve is purchasing Infinity Reference series... if he is purchasing the Kappa series for $100, im gonna kick myself! i just installed kappa 5.25 component series in my front doors and they sound soo sweet! one tip for y'all... the stock speaker is mounted on a plate that aims the speaker towards the listener a bit... do not dispose of the speaker mount.. it helps the magnet of the speakers clear the window guide inside the door. getting a plate from crutchfield really saves a lot of time cuttin a plate *yodda yodda yodda*... i love my Kappa components... they are soooo su-weet!!

Yeah they are the reference not the kappas. I returned my Pioneer 3way 6x8's cause they didn't sound too hot. I got the reference set for the same price as the 6x8's so I figured I got a good deal.
