It's a little black box (about 3" x 3") with little wire antenna sticking out both sides. It's velcro'd to the windshield and has a 3-wire connector that leads up to where my compass and temp readout are. Is this part of the factory installed phone?

My truck has a little microphone mounted high on the driver side windshield pillar so I assume that it has the option. I have yet to find the phone tho. My SHO Taurus had it installed in the center console. There are some connectors hanging out under the driver side rear seat that don't connect to anything. Are these part of the phone as well? I'd like to nix all of this stuff but i want to make sure I know what I'm trashing first.

I have a '97 Mountaineer V8 AWD.

Thanks in Advance!
Brad

Without seeing it I would guess you are right. A hands free kit for a cell phone. I have a little black box with antenna sticking out, but mine is for a alarm that has a 2way remote and remote start. So if you don't have a 2way remote for an alarm and being you said there is a microphone. I would bet hands free cell phone.

it could be that or its for the rear view mirror. If its got the headlight timer on it and too also change the tint on it so then headlights from behind don't blind you.

I betcha have a remote starter.

Look under your hood. Just by the latch on the rad-support crossmember, there should be a sticker, it will tell you if it ever had factory remote start. If so, that annoying, never-stays put, piece of $h!t, is definetly the antenna for your remote starter. Mine will meet its demise soon...
