What is this hose (pipe)

Hi guys,

I am doing the valve cover gasket on my 2003 Explorer with 4.0L V6 engine, and I found this hose seem to be loose between cover and firewall.
Anyone know what it is and where it should go as I can't feel any holes around the area.
Photo 0896 shows where I found it, 0909 is the hose/pipe

Thanks but when I posted the photo I could see the hole and I have now fitted it.
One side to valve cover and the other to inlet as photo

That is the PCV valve. Here is a diagram of where it should go.
