HI,

There is this tube hanging down that is leaking under my explorer. It leaves about 10- 15 drops or so evrynight of what appears to be oil. Anyone have any ideas on what it is.

I had a similar one. It was the fitting on the transmission cooler leaking and spraying back.

Edit

I didn't clean the oil off for a while and it ate the paint on the cross-member.

That doesn't look too good. Can you determine what color the oil is? From where it is located, it could be the tranny lines. Those are the two whitish looking lines that you can see in your pic running above and parallel to the swaybar then turning aft. I don't see the tube hanging down that you describe.

Problem Fixed

Hi,

Well I took the truck to my local service center and the mechanic recognized the problem right away. The tube that is in the top center of the picture was the differential breather. It came unattached somehow and was hanging down allowing differential fluid to drip. They attached it back up and refilled my front diff and I was on my way. Thanks for the replies and help.
