My 2001 ST starting creaking like crazy with every bump or turn of the wheel, so I decided to check out what might be causing it....

Found that on both sides these rods with rubber ends were completely unseated. They go into what i think is the lower control arm. What are they called?

If I could figure out how to post a pic, I would.

im gonna guess sway bar end links . by the sound of what youre describing

Ditto. Notorious OEM front sway bar end link failure. Usually the first part to fail with these suspensions, followed closely by lower
ball joints. Replace in pairs, lengths must match both sides. Moog's K700542 new design uses polyurethane bushings, not neoprene
or thermoplastic rubber known to blow out. Also check the sway bar frame bushings while you're under there. Tighten with the tires straight and on the ground until the bushings slightly compress, no more.

I answered this in your other thread on the same question in the 2nd Gen Ex section.
