While installing my trailer brake controller and hardwire kit for a dashcam, I found a small gray 4-wire plug that was not connected to anything inside the driver side dash of my 2016 Limited 3.5L 4WD. The four wire colors are: yellow/green tracer, green/blue tracer, gray/orange tracer, and purple/orange tracer. My first thought was the lighted sill plates on a Platinum but the electrical schematic diagrams I can find show only a two wire connector being used for those.

Any ideas what this connector is meant to be used for?

Looks like it is c2122, labeled as a test connector tied into the CAN lines. Appears it may be for upfitter validation/usage on police vehicles as it is inline between the gateway module and the generic function module for the police package cars.

Thank you! Does it seem like something that could be used to tie into the Canbus network for adding mods, like adding FordPass for example? Or does that only serve as a testing port?
