While changing my wires and plugs, I finally discovered my water/coolant leak. It's coming from this thingamajig which I'm pointing to in the following link. It's connected to water hoses coming from the pump, heading towards the heater. Can anyone tell me what this is and what pecautions I need to take in order to replace it ? The coolant is coming from the bottom side of this item.

Dead Link Removed

Thanks

Take another pic without your hand in the way.

It looks like a piece that is going to the heater core.

I would make any repairs with the engine off and cool, other than that be careful.

:D

thats like a $20 dollar part

As I said earlier, this item is in transit to the heater. There's a little silver metal throttle lever underneath which is where I believe the leak is coming from.

its called a heater control valve. Around $20 at your friendly local ford dealer.

slow-deamon, you're not! Thanks for your FAST response. I'll go out tomorrow and get this item. Looking at it, I assume that once the engine is cool, all I need to do is replace this item. Should be a no brainer ???

Thanks
Craig

That item only cost me $14 from the dealer. Took me 5 minutes to replace (once I drained the radiator a little) and now no more leaks. Life is wonderful (as long as the niners beat the chargers tomorrow !!!!).
