what is wrong with my ABS?

Ok i bought a '93 explorer sport last tuesday. 2 days later im driving the thing and every time i put on the brakes as soon as i apply enough pressure to actually slow down the truck(push the brake in just a few inches) I hear a pretty loud knock coming from the middle/rear of the truck and the truck jerks like 1 of the brakes just kicked in and is working much harder than the rest. This happens every single time i slow down i checked all the breakpads/rotors and they look fine. When im driving it the ABS will at one point kick in for NO reason and make this sound like a baseball card in the spokes of a bike, and then the ABS light comes on meaning the system has been disabled. Anyone have any clue on what could be wrong with my truck?

bad sensor. common problem on 1st generation explorers...the abs on thes things sucks anyways. my recommendation is to pop the hood and go into the fuse box and yank one of the fuses for the abs. you wont have to worry about the abs any more ut keep in mind the light will stay lit and you will have regular brakes.

no, i am not joking. i do this svery winter because the abs is down right dangerous in these things. i compared it with and without and it actually stopped quicker without the abs on snow.

ok, after i read through every single post about the ABS problem i came to the conclusion that i had the stupid ABS problem as well as another one (the whole 1 brake locking up thing). So, i went outside adn took every wheel off again for further inspection, finally when i took off the last rear tire and checked all the parts of the drum break i founda missing piece! you know that cord that has a funny lookin hook on 1 side and a circle on the other and you run it around the thingamabob? well it was broken right in half. So, im off to the store to buy a new piece ill tell ya how it turns out.
