I have been searching for over an hour on the site, I've read tons of people asking the same question and getting what seems like half answers and/or LED information. I'm not looking to convert to LED's. I just want to know what type of bulb is in the 4x4 switch, and the rear defrost and fog light switches, but also where i could purchase them besides going to the dealer. The only conclusive information I have acquired is that they are "Neo Wedge bulbs".

I greatly appreciate some info, or atleast pointing me in the right directon.

Thanks so much!

Adam.

Very hard to do. Dealer does not carry any of the bulbs separately (they want to sell you the whole switch), and I was never able to find a source for bulbs. I ended up swapping in LEDs (NEO-3x from superbrightleds.com) for the rear defrost and fog light switches; don't have 4X4. Good luck - please post here if you find bulbs somewhere.

I DON'T have any experience with this problem myself, however, from what I have read, the lights are not available seperately. I would guess you could go to Radio Shack and see if they have something that will work. I have heard of "grain of rice" or something like that, bulbs. Don't know if they are 12v or not. Let us know what you find.

Ok. I figured it out. The site is not organized as well as it could be, but goto www.autolumination.com, scroll down a bit and goto the 74 bulbs section, then go about halfway down the page, You are looking for Type A, T3, 8mm Bulbs for the fog light, and rear defroster switches. Now the key is to make sure in the drop down selectors, it does NOT say LED after "type A", if it does, scroll down until the section you are in does not say LED. then select Green for color.

Then for the 4x4 and headlight switch, scroll down a little further from the previous T3 section. You are looking for Type B Tall Glass (T4, 10 mm), again, NOT LED and choose green in color to stay factory style.

Hope this helps you guys out. I know I can't stand having dash lights burned out, its a pet peeve and then some for me.

Adam.

Thanks Adam.

It's your trucks twin! I've been looking for those for a couple of years. Nice score.

THANK YOU!!! I have replaced a couple of things with LEDs, but the colors don't match - plus this is the first time I have seen a tall one for the headlight switch!! :chug::chug::chug: and :salute:

I just replaced my dash cluster light bulbs and I noticed that the 4x4 selecter switch (2000 XLT) and Rear Wiper swich don't light up. Are they supposed to?

Yes they are. The site quoted earlier has the replacements.

The autolumination.com site has both LED and incandesent bulbs for the various switches. I believe that the T3 bulbs/holders fit the Fog Light and Rear Defog switches. I never found a straight replacement for the Rear Wiper switch, but luckily mine isn't burned out. The "tall" T3 bulbs for the headlight and 4X4 switches are still a little shorter than OEM, but they work well enough. Color matching is pretty poor - you end up with various "shades" of whichever color you use. In my 97 EB, they look green but the blue lights matched best.

how many bulbs do i need for the headlight switch? i didnt even know this switch was suppose to light up. im about to order bulbs for the fog/defrost switch.

There is only one bulb in the headlight switch, but it's in a "tall" bulb holder. The "tall" bulb holder that "adambant" refered to in his post above ended up being a little too short for the headlight swirch. I have had fairly good luck using the Radio Shack "grain of wheat" bulbs to replace the bulbs in the existing bulb holders. It's a PITA to do because the bulbs, wires, holes, etc are so **** small!! Good luck.

you have replaced just the bulbs? to be sure just the bulbs from RS are much cheaper, and available locally. how did you get them to be green? does the rubber boot come off easily? turns out i need a bulb for the rear wiper as well.

I have replaced just the bulbs in the tall holders; it's a bit of a PITA but it can be done. A magnifying glass helps you see to get the wires thru the holes. I have had mixed success getting the "mouse condums" off, as they have a tendency to come apart. When/if they do, I just leave the bulbs white. I would not bother trying to change the bulbs in the short holders, but would just by them preassembled. I have not had to do the rear wiper bulb yet; but as I remember it that bulb is different from the other two switches in that bracket. Good luck!
