Yng_pnk - you know the code? or who does? or how much you would get off? thanks

i know this queston is entirely based on opinion, but what muffler would make my '91 XLT 4.0 sound like a big V-8? From what i have read, the flowmasters and the magnaflows have a mellow sound. when i think of mellow, i think of an exhaust fan in a warehouse or somehing like that. I'm looking for a nice, low grumble, that sounds like a mean V-8, but not really loud. does anybody know a muffler that sounds like this?

flowmaster

go flowmaster you want a v8 sound youll get close with a 40 series stick with te older series. it will never sond like a big v8 but my friend has the exact same set up and it sonds good. get a custtom 3 inch exhaust and dump it. it will souud close

40 or 50

theres really no differece between a 40 series delta and a 50 series original they will both sound the same on a v6

custom exhaust

The only way I think you get that sound with a V6 Is by using a low restriction muffler. I think FloPro is your best bang for the buck. Sounds like a FlowMaster but not nearly as expensive. If you have the cats in place your only gonna get so much out of it, but use a large diamater muffler, like 3 inch. And a 3 inch tail pipe. I've installed alot of these. You could always add two more cylinders.

Holiday Discaount code

Let me check for the code.

Customer ID: HolidaySale
Coupon Code: 84628

I think its only like 5% but still anything helps.

5%!!!! :bounce: , just kiding it does help but my friends dad works at a garage so he could probably end up getting me a better deal than that, thanks though man

the louder the better ive always said.
but yer not me. you might not like pissing off your neighbors when you come home at night with your exhuast. i think the 40 series makes a nice deep sound. thats what i would go for. if you put a full lenth exit pipe it wont be too loud for you. well i should hope not.
i like flowmasters. get the non-deltas though.

:us: :chug: :us:

I use a pair of Dynomax Turbo Mufflers w/custom bent 2.25 tubes on my 5.0L '88 Ranger setup.
Sound good at idle, great on accelleration, criuses nice - not too loud but throaty, and when you put the 'petal to the metal' it sound fantisic.
I bought them because of price and they worked out good.
I will be using the stainless steel version of this muffler on my next project with a complete system.

Good Luck on your choice.

definitly go with flows and not the delta-series i still know that 40 would not be that loud on a v6 but it will produce a very nice sound

a 40 can be very loud even on a v6. my truck is alot louder then my buddies 98 gt mustang when it has its stock exhuast on it.

Another vote for the 40 series! I have 2 single in/single out with dual pipes on mine and they sound great!

if you want to squeeze even a little more power out of your car make sure and get a single in single out 40. dont get single in dual out unless you plan on sending them seperate ways.
