Just regular gear oil is fine.

I'd use dino oil since you are going to be draining it out again soon anyways.

What weight?

75W-90 should be fine.

If it gets pretty hot during the summer where you are, 85W-140 might be better.

:salute:Here in France there in my truck with that 85W-140 for me it's very good:D

just plain cheap 80w90 if you are going to do the aussie locker later this year yet.

You can get generic or cheap 80W-90 gear oil at the parts store in gallon containers for about what it costs for a quart of 75W-90 synthetic. Supposedly regular gear oil is good for ~100,000 miles, so changing it out at half that is some pretty decent maintenance.

That said, the 75W-90 is great stuff, and what I'd suggest once you get it finished up with the locker of your choice and don't plan on opening it up again until it's time for a fluid change. Some lockers or limited slips with the lower gear ratios call for 80W-140 though, so a 75W-140 synthetic is what to use for those, some of which come with friction modifier for LS diffs already added, so be careful if you don't want it in there.

if it does not make a big difference for sure this can be good.
But I think when the truck starts to eat many miles
It may be better for him to have a better quality.
it is also possible that I make a mistake.
