Shocks are oil filled dampers with a gas charge to keep the oil from foaming.
Your question is weather or not to go with adjustable shocks or normal stock replacement (non-adjustable) units.
Up to you, really. With adjustables, you can dial in the ride you like.
With a standard, non adjustable shock, the ride control is fixed.
There are a few threads on here that review ride quality of a few over the counter shocks. Perhaps you should search through them and find the units that suite your needs. I run KYB-GR2 shocks, nice firm controlled ride.
