Does anyone know why it says in the Haynes manual NOT to use copper tubing for brake lines ?

Are you sure it's copper? Because brake lines are usually steel (galvanized, coated, etc..)

Thats why i put the wordcopper in "" marks, id like to replace them with copper so they dont rust but the manual says not to, i was just wondering why as all the cars ive had before ive always used copper or 90% copper and 10% nickel for the brake lines.

Oh i thought you already had copper lines. I'm not 100% sure why copper wont work but bendable copper has a Young's modulus of about half of steel. In addition, copper does "oxidize" - look at the Statue of Liberty.

I would guess that as it is a 4x4 and may see off road use then copper would be more easily squashed/dented if hit by a rock or something. I can think of no other reason.

yeh i guess thats the only reason why, gonna try make some pipes i guess when i find out what size the unions are am off to the US for 3 months in 6 weeks might wait and see what i can get hold of out there.
