FLORIDA does not have auto inspections. We once did back in the 70;s.

But.... who are we, we can't even vote.

North Carolina does. My truck needs an inspection in May, that was when I bought the truck.

Virginia does. Just got mine done. I thought I was going to have to get the State Police involved. The mechanic threatened to not inspect it because of my PIAA 40's. His reason? "They're so big!" That was the biggest crock I had heard in a long time. I have them installed in compliance with the state inspection code, so I was ready to argue about it. But the guy finally relented and inspected it.

..

PA does.... in my county we also have mandatory emissions testing.. that may soon change though .... they may do away with it altogether because it's not fair that some counties aren't required to do it....they believe it should either be statewide or not at all

what are you talking about? we had inspections up until July last year. im Palm Beach county anyway (please dont flame the voting) but ever since then, the trendy thing to do is remove all the cats from mustangs. ewwww.

None here!

No inspections up here in Canada! However, like Gimp said, if the cops pull you over and find your vehicle is not safe, you have to fix it or lose your plates...alot of your trucks would not be allowed here. I am sure there is a limit for bumper height. Is there not laws for this in the US?

Here in Louisiana, we DO have mandatory state annual inspections. If you are stopped by the police and your vehicle doesn't have a valid inspection sticker (or "brake tag" as we call them in south Louisiana) he will give you a ticket.

in CALIFORNIA we have smog tests. we invented them. they are horrible and allow almost no modification to be done to the intake or exhaust. also if you get pulled over the cop can make you pop the hood and can issue a ticket for the kkm tru-rev kit.

also sever state have rules like lights cant be below or above a certain height, bumper cant be below or above certain height, frame cant be below or above certain height, frame cant be lower than the bottom of the rim in relation to the ground

THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY VARIABLES BETWEEN STATE TO STATE SO JUST GO AND BUY THE VEHICLE CODE BOOK FROM DMV AND CHECK IT OUT. IN CA THEY ARE ONLY $3 AND YOU JUST WALK INTO DMV AND REQUEST IT

You might have had a COUNTY choice inspection but FLORIDA had no statewide inspection.

Heck, I liked the voting; I voted 3 times and figered it out all by me self.

We have them here in NY but they arent that strict. If have a crappy car that cant really pass and you know a mechanic you can get passed. Pretty simple requirements too.

Massachusetts DOES have annual inspections of motor vehicles. They just went to a more strick system a year ago. they even want to dyno a car every 2 years! An inspection that took 5 minutes and $15, now take 20 minutes and $30.

Arizona has emissions inspections but the time period varies on the year and make of the vehicle and also where the vehicle is driven. I have to have my 91 inspected every two years. Maricopa County, where Phoenix is, gets more like California East every year. Instead of mods for the Explorer I'm contemplating a down payment on an isle in the Caribean! To my knowledge emissions is the only "inspection" required in Arizona.

Although SC doesn't, I wish they did. I absolutely hate seeing junk cars running around smoking up and down the road. You see cars with missing panels, totalled front/rear ends or smashed doors, missing windows,.... I'm not saying it's gotta be perfect, but if it has already been wreck and gets in another wreck, the vehicles ability to absorb another crash is gonna be a lot lower and may seriously hurt the occupants. In Germany(at least when I was there) you couldn't have any missing panels or panels with jagged pieces sticking out that could hurt someone walking past it. Rarely did I see a wrecked or a smoking car running around. To me, if it's just a dent(say, trail damage, parking lot SNAFU) or something small, no biggie, but headlights held on by duct tape is just....wrong.

MD

Maryland has an inspection only when you register it the first time. Then you may get hit for a random emissions test.

Not too bad I guess... Its definitely not California!

Illinois has inspections.

Depends on where in California you are. Where my parents live there is only smog inspections when you buy a vechicle. My parents have lived their 10 years and we have only done 2 smog checks. When we bought my 86 ranger 3 years ago and our 75 f250 5 years ago thats it.
