what to do about bug shield situation?

guys, my truck has been a street truck type of truck, and with the addition of my new wheels, its quickly looking more like a street truck. now heres my dilemma: when i bought the truck i put a deflecta shield on it so the front edge of the hood wouldnt get damaged (like my old 91 sport used to get.) its a cool one that wraps around the sides, and its smoked, but with a white truck, it kinda looks like it shouldnt be there...at least anymore. i liked the way it broke up all the white, but now i just feel like it shouldnt be there. i really dont wanna get a clear one and paint it, they always fade to yellow (at least the white ones always do) and i dont like the way they look anyway. so what should i do? should i leave mine on?...take it off?...replace it with something else?...other suggestions?

i dunno man it looks phat the way it is. im so ghetto- mines gonna be street/offroad when i get finished. but i think you should keep it. another thing that MIGHT tie it in is a home made speed grill like i made. very cheap but a PITA! just go to my home page and look under "speed grill".

I agree with you tbomb

It doesn't fit well w/ the street scene , more of a Offroad look . Take it off and do billet grilles top and bottom w/ clr. corners . My 2 cents .

I like the way it breaks up the white. I think it'd be too white without it. I think it might look better though if it were painted the same color as your bumper and fender flares. That way it would all match and it wouldn't stand out so bad.

Lund makes two hood deflectors that may look good on your ride. They have a deflector stainless steel and their Chameleon deflector which uses that color-shift paint.

I say keep it or do what yob recommended, because without some kind of deflector it will look naked, IMHO. You could also get one of them hood bras, except just the kind that comes about 1/4 the way up teh hood and has the two thingies taht stand up and act as deflectors, I dont think those look bad.:smoke:

grant and john, you guys are right about it looking naked without it. ive seen my truck in white without a deflector on there, and its too much white. one thing i was thinking about is in the performance products paper catalog (i dont know if its online) they have a bug shield thats really low profile, doesnt stick up in the air, its really sleek, but it only attaches with tape, but im afraid that back part of it might scratch my hood. anyone who has the perf. prod. paper catalog, take a look and lemme know what you think.

for now, my bug shield is gonna stay on, as much as i feel it shouldnt be there, it looks more awkward without it.

i have the catolog here and the lund frontrunner one looks like it might be pretty cool if you painted it to match. i think thats the one you were asking about. imo though i like trucks with as little of that kind of stuff as possible.

i know what you mean about "as little as possible." i kinda like it on a white truck though - lighter colors make the truck look bigger and theres too much white, but i really want one for function. on my old 91 sport, the front edge of the hood got destroyed by rocks and stuff - like paint chips and stuff, really annoyed me.
