The rust has gotten really bad on my trailer hitch. I have no idea who installed it, but they welded it to the frame of my X! So I know I can't sandblast it, etc. What should I do? Should I sand it off, and spray paint it black? What rust preventions are out there? I'm clueless. Thanks

DO NOT just sand it down and paint it. I took a grinder to mine, got all the rust off, painted it with Tremclad, it was maybe 1 month before it was rusting again. Granted, I did not prime it or anything, but I, too, will get some herculiner the next time I choose to do it right.

ahh no rust for me, what is herculiner by the way?

herculiner is a brush/roll on bed liner for pickup trucks, but people use it for a lot of stuff (i.e.: trailer hitches, rocker panels, nerf bars, etc.) <-- durable as hell

just be careful when you apply it.

we dont need another "how do i get herculiner off my hootus" thread. although it was funny to almost everyone on the internet, i'm sure it wasn't for gerald.
