Hello,

First off I know very little about subs and what is good and what isnt the best. I am looking to put something that is space effcient in my X.. I really dont want this huge box that takes over half of my cargo area for subs. Looking around on Crutchfield i have found a few things and i was wondering which you would recommend, or know of any problems with either of them...

First Solution,
I have been looking at the MTX Thunderform 10" that fits in the extra storage spot in the trunk area.... as far as an amp I am not sure (lack of knowledge once again lol). I have been looking as far as price and watt output, something like this Profile Clarius Amp to power it.

The Second Solution,
The other subs i have been looking at are Rockford Fosgate 6" 3/4. I would probably get two and find a place to mount them in the rear door, if possible leaving the speakers in. Im not as keen on this idea as the first. I dont know how it would sound or how difficult it would be to mount the mini subs. Any help or suggestions with either of these ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

I could be mistaken (and I'm sure some one will point it out if i am) but i think you can get the MTX with an amp already in it, which would make your life a whole lot easier if you plan to do the install yourself. As for those Rockfords, you might want to look into getting a truck box and putting them in the cargo bay, and putting some 5x7s or 6x9s in the doors. Just my thoughts.

get the thunderform or the q logic cargo net area box...... monuting speakers in the rear hatch has been discussed before and has basically been deemed illogical and too difficult.....

I heard an MTX thunderform and it does fill out the sound nicely but it just isn't as good as a real box and sub. Don't get the amped version IMO, one of the people on this board got it and the sub blew and couldn't find a replacment.
If you can wait a bit www.hifisoundconnection.com used to have the thunderforms at really good prices but there website has been down for weeks so maybe it's not coming back.
For an amp why not use a 2 channel and bridge it - you could get an MTX 4202 (280w at 14 volts) for the same price and it is a better amp then the profile.
