Seriously looking at buying a new Sport Trac, possibly the Adrenaline package version.
Is there any major problems I should be aware of before I set my money down on the table? Any nagging problems some of you have that may or may not really affect the vehicle, just something you're not sure about? Is the AWD system in the Adrenaline similar to the Subaru full time system, or is it a part-time like most other vehicles?

The transmission can shift a little sloppy but that can be fixed. The AWD system basically runs in rear drive most of the time and if it detects slippage then the front end kicks in. The front wheels do not receive power all the time. You can also lock it in 4-hi and 4-low if needed. If I'm driving in a bunch of snow I just lock it in 4-hi and motor on because the front end kicking in and out can be annoying.

I had an '05 Sport Trac before, ride and handling on the '08 is so much better it isn't funny.

I've had mine for 15 months and 20,000 miles, since then it's made exactly one trip back to the dealer to replace a power window switch.

My adrenalin's Awd must be different then yours I have no 4hi or 4 lo I can put it in 4wd through the computer but the manual says only in very deep snow. I have driven in plenty of snow this year and the AWD has been great. Anyway back to the posters ? I only have 2000 miles on mine but I love it. The trans can act a little funny but when the tuners finally get into the codes and can change the shifting it will be much better. I say go for it you will not regret it.

Mine is a 2 wheel drive, the only issues I had were electronic issues which seem to be corrected. The first was the butt sensor(weight sensor ) for the passenger seat which burned out, fried the fuse and caused the airbag light to stay on .Since the sensor was replaced, no other issues with that. The other was a post I sent up about all of the warning lights coming on and a no shift issue with the trans. The computer corrected itself and there was a TSB for a computer upgrade. These items were all corrected and hopefully there will be no more issues. My particular vehicle was ordered in Jan.08 and delivered in March 08,so it is an early run of the model and hopefully all the glitches are corrected.
As far as a comparison vehicle to my 05 Adrenalin......there is no comparison. The 08 STA is a much better vehicle.

thanks for the responses so far guys. It seems like a less trouble prone vehicle than my other choice so far(a CX-7).

Mine is a 2wd. Had it two years next month, and with 25,000 miles only problem I have had is tires wore out way too soon, at about 21,000. Also shifter got hard to move, had to hit it to move out of park, took in for service, there is a TSB to remove it and replace with better one. Seems to push brake to shift out of park gets jammed.

Mine is a 2WD STA with the V-8, I've had it since May and it is great. I have not had any of the shifting issues. It doesn't have the firmest shifts but once they get the programming figured out that will be taken care of, and that's not saying that it doesn't shift smooth because it does.

As like the others, no problems. One year old and 19,000 miles trouble free.

Sta

Had mine about 2 months with 2000 miles and I love it. No issues!

Well, from the other car forums I've visited, 20~25k seems about normal for OEM tires on just about every make/model
