What transfer case do i have and would this be better to do?

Ok what transfer case do i have is it the 4405 control trac or the BW1345 i am confused and also if it is the 4405 control trac would it be better to switch to the manual shift 4406 out of the f-150 like those other guys on here did or just not mess with it. I have a 1999 Explorer 4dr 4wd OHV.

you have a 4405...if you want to switch to a manual shift, you need a borg warner 1354 out a 91-94 explorer or simmilar ranger...the 4406 is for the v8 guys, wont work for you

ok so a 1354 manual and it will bolt right up and i wont have to screw around with the electronics like with the 4406. And is it that much diffrence since the 4405 only goes into a4wd when the back tires kick loose.

Thats right, it will bolt right up. But you need a different front driveshaft -- one from a first generation Explorer (91-94) should work (it may be a little long but it will fit with some leverage)
