What would you do to a 4.0L SOHC V6 if...

So you are saying to just delete it? Pull all the parts out (balancer shaft, chain, guides, sprockets, etc.)?

I think I found the answer after a search. Looks like you would have to leave the shaft in, but could eleminate the chain, guides, and crank sprocket?

You need to leave the balance shaft in, there are journals running to it, you also need to leave the gear on the crank as a spacer for the gear to the jackshaft. You don't need to reconnect the chain to the balance shaft. .

I didn't replace the lower balancer guide. Am I going to regret that?

you can pull the balance shaft just plug the oil holes in the bearing journals
roscoe
ps i'd would replace all the seals and gaskets [pan rocker gaskets intake gaskets] while it's out and easy to get to

Mine has a steady leak along the cradle that I have been wanting to fix for a while. Leaves a nice oily patch on the driveway. Anybody use the generic timing tool set? Cant find one to rent or borrow.

I have the timing kit you could buy or rent.

That would be great.
