What's a good price for a 4r70w Transmission?

I see a few on e-bay here and there. Today they range from $375- $900.

Not that I'm gonna take this route but was just wondering if anybody had any experience with this. I'm trying to get a budget together for how much a V8 swap is gonna cost in up front parts.

Also i'm looking for any other recommendations on where to look for new or rebuilt transmissions. I know there are a lot out there so I'm just looking for any you may have had a good experience with.

Also I've seen them on-line rebuilt for as much as $1200-$2000.

Just looking for a ballpark figure from any one who has input.

I bought a wrecked 96 explorer for a swap. I though about buying part by part but found the donor vehicle as the only way to go. Saves time and money. If all i needed was a 4R70W I'd check local junk yards. Like you said around 300-900 bucks.

My plan is to go with a donor. I'm just researching all the other possibilities.

Anyone else have experience with this?
